26 February 2016

There can be only one subject this week - Oliver!

It really was a wonderful show full of memorable moments from start to finish and I was delighted to be part of the audience on Wednesday evening. There were so many highlights and everyone I spoke to talked about the show in glowing terms.  I was very impressed by the high quality of singing, acting, choreography and staging which were as good as anything the school has produced in recent years. Well done to everyone involved!

Such high quality performances don't happen by chance. First and foremost they are the product of a large amount of hard work. The cast, crew and directors have put in hundreds of hours to make the show possible and the performance on the night is proof of what can be achieved when you work at it. This is a good message for us all.

I would like to thank all of those staff who were involved in staging such a brilliant production, especially Mr. Walden, Miss Nutland and Miss Halls for their tireless work in directing this years show. Secondly, the final result is down to the combined effort of all the individuals involved, from those who painted the sets and checked the sound to those who sang the final song.

A key part of this team are the families of the performers who support and encourage their participation - thank you, we couldn't do it without you.

Finally, this sort of performance needs courage and determination from the performers themselves. Getting up on stage is hard enough, but harder still is being determined to do so even when things are proving really difficult. I think the cast showed tremendous character and the show was much better for it than it might have been.

So, congratulations everyone. I am already looking forward to next year!
